St. Andre Health Care Facility in York County was owned by Covenant Health as of the first quarter of 2026, according to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Covenant Health has maintained ownership of the facility since Oct. 20, 2000.

This nursing home operates as a non-profit organization.

For that period, St. Andre Health Care Facility earned an overall CMS rating of five, surpassing the statewide average for Maine’s nursing homes, which was 2.9. The CMS evaluates homes based on key metrics such as the results of health inspections, staffing ratios, and resident care quality.

Data show the facility cared for an average of 78.4 residents per day in Q1 of 2026, with a capacity of 96 beds. The facility does not have hospital affiliation at this time.

The facility received no fines or penalties as of the first quarter of 2026.

There were two non-profit nursing home providers in York County during that quarter.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the U.S. is experiencing growth in its older adult population as younger age groups contract. Between 2020 and 2024, people age 65 and older in the United States grew by 13%, while the number of those under 18 dropped by 1.7%. Over the last 100 years, the nation’s older adult population has expanded significantly from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study reported that about half of Americans in this demographic—approximately 28 million people—are likely to need long-term services and support. Projections also indicate that over a third could require nursing home care eventually.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
