St. Andre Health Care Facility ranks 2nd in York County for size in Q1 2026

St. Andre Health Care Facility ranked as the second largest nursing home in York County for the first quarter of 2026, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Records indicate the facility provided 96 beds during this period, which was 18 above the county average in Q1 2026. On average, 78.4 residents were served at the center during the quarter.

The CMS gave St. Andre Health Care Facility a 5 out of 5 overall rating, surpassing Maine’s average nursing home score of 2.9.

Seal Rock Healthcare was the largest nursing home in York County for the quarter, offering 105 beds. Pinnacle Health & Rehab at Sanford placed third, with 86 beds.

St. Andre Health Care Facility reported no fines or penalties in the first quarter of 2026.

York County, Maine had two non-profit nursing homes during this timeframe.

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the nation’s older adult population is expanding as the number of younger residents falls. From 2020 to 2024, the count of Americans age 65 and older grew by 13%, while the under-18 population dropped 1.7%. The country’s older adult population has expanded significantly since 1920, rising from 4.9 million to more than 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study estimates that nearly half of Americans in this age group—approximately 28 million people—may eventually require long-term services and support. The study also anticipates that more than one-third could someday need nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
