York County Community College Foundation (YCCCF) is pleased to announce that it has received a generous charitable gift from the Roger K Williams Foundation. YCCCF received the initial gift for $50,000 and will receive annual contributions in 2023, 2024, and 2025 that will range between $35,000 – $50,000 annually to fund student scholarships.
“We are grateful for the support and trust that the Roger K. Williams Foundation has placed in us to honor Roger’s legacy. As a lifelong resident of Sanford, Roger K. Williams was passionate about our great state.” said Dr. Michael Fischer, YCCC President. “He was also a big supporter of education’s role in helping students. The scholarships given in his name will assist our students as they gain the knowledge and skills needed to enter the workforce.”
To be eligible for this last-dollar scholarship a student must:
- be in a program or training geared towards a specific skill or career. Examples include trade programs, teaching, criminal justice, nursing, and other career-specific programs. Students in general study or liberal arts programs shall not be eligible for funds
- be a Maine resident
- maintain a 2.0 GPA
- must demonstrate evidence of hard work, dedication, and fortitude
