Wells Maine Chamber of Commerce In Loving Memory of the Lives Lost 78 Years ago on D-Day

071e

In loving memory of the lives lost 78 years ago on D-Day, the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare.  160,000 brave soldiers from the US, the UK and Canada stormed the beaches of Normandy France which began the liberation of German-occupied northwestern Europe from Nazi control and contributed to the Allied victory on the Western Front.

I had the pleasure of visiting Normandy a few years ago - it was an experience I'll never forget.  Below are pictures of "Les Braves", the 60th anniversary sculpture at Omaha Beach, commissioned by the French government in 2004 and the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer.
