On August 7, 2022, Chief Deputy Mike Mitchell retired from military service. During a retirement ceremony in his honor, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Mitchell was awarded the Legion of Merit medal presented to him by Land Component Commander Brigadier General Dean Preston. LTC Mitchell served honorably for nearly 42 years with the U.S. Army and the Maine Army National Guard including a combat tour in Iraq where he served as Company Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I want to thank Chief Deputy Mitchell for his many years of service to our Country.
