York County Community College Hawks Shine at Moose Invitational

The York County Community College Hawks participated in UMA Moose Invitational on Saturday, September 10th. It was their first race of the season. With a men’s team laden with newcomers and an addition of another female runner, the Hawks had a good showing.

The women kicked off the day at 10:00 am with a 5K, on a glorious late summer day. Newcomer Amy Stanek placed in the top 10, finishing with a time of 25:31.6, which was good for 8th place. Teammate Libby Papciak finished at 33:00.1

The men’s race was also a 5K which saw the YCCC Hawks with the largest team in the field. Two first-year students finished in the top 15, with Michael Crosby posting a time of 21:13.4 and Caleb Smith with a time of 22:10.6. The rest of the squad had a good showing, three in the top 20 and two in the top 25.

The Hawks will be back in action at the Maine States meet on October 1st, hosted by Husson University located in Bangor, ME.
