Cost of college went up for all students at the University of New England

Tuition and fees rose 3 percent for 2018-19 at the University of New England, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Maine students paid $37,620 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,090 more than the $36,530 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 100 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 650 students received grants or scholarships totaling $12.5 million and 626 students took out student loans totaling more than $6.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (8,010), 2,326 students used grants or scholarships totaling $41.1 million, and 2,080 students took out $12.7 million in federal student loans.
