The University of Maine at Presque Isle is excited to welcome Matthew Bayonne, a transfer from Muskingum University in Concord, Ohio to the Owls 2022 roster.  Joshua Valadez from Fontana California to join the Owls as an incoming first year.

Bayonne was a standout player for both the New Mexico Military Academy in New Mexico as well as New Buffalo High school in New Buffalo, Michigan where he helped lead his team to the District Finals.

In the 2019-20 season Matt was selected to the All-Conference 1st team as well as the All-District, All-Region and All-State teams. He was also a member of the Millennium SA soccer club from 2015 to 2022.

Matthew plans to study nursing at UMPI and is looking forward to taking the field with his new teammates this fall.  Coach Gordon is confident that Matt has the skill, athletic ability and experience to step in and play for the Owls immediately.  The Owls will begin preseason practices on August 21st.

Valadez, a central midfielder/back played for Summitt High school as well as the Rebels IE soccer club before signing on with the Owls.

Joshua plans to study History at UMPI and is excited to start his collegiate career after spending a year at California State University in Los Angeles. When asked about coming to campus this fall to play for the Owls Joshua stated "I am excited to be coming to UMPI to pursue my dream of playing collegiate soccer.  I would not be in this position to follow my dreams without my family, my friends and the young soccer players I currently coach."

U-Maine Presque Isle Head Soccer Coach Alan Gordon is extremely excited to have Joshua join the Owls team in 2022.  "Joshua has the athletic ability, work ethic and desire to be an outstanding player for us this season.   His knowledge of the game and leadership abilities will make him an exceptional teammate and a great addition to the program. I am looking forward to seeing Joshua take the field in the coming weeks."

The Owls men's soccer team along with the entire UMPI community would like to welcome both Matthew Bayonne and Joshua Valadez to the UMPI Family.
