The York County Hawks Cross Country teams are headed to the Yankee Small College Conference Championship on Saturday, September 29th. Hosted by Vermont Tech, there are two challenging courses, an 8K for men and 6K for women, await the Hawks. The women will lead off at 11:00 am with the men following at 11:45 am.
Amy Stanek has posted solid times during the regular season. Her best performance to date is a 6th place finish for the 5K at the Thomas College Invite.
Michael Crosby has also finished in the top ten twice during the regular season. Michael was named YSCC Runner of the Week for his first meet of his college career. He is followed by Bowman Rollins, who has had some strong finishes. Brendan Mather will round out the Hawks runners in his first meet of the season.
What Coach Clement has to say about the YSCC Championship:
“The conference championship course at Vermont Tech ensures to offer us our hardest challenge yet with hill so big it feels more like a rock-climbing course. Despite the level of difficulty, our team has a solid core that is more than prepared to handle the challenge and thrives in hilly terrain. I’m excited to have our teams face off against other YSCC teams and to have all their hard work finally pay off at the championship.”
