Colby College Mules Overcome Second Half Rally To Win

Day 2 of the Castleton State tournament saw the Mules take on the hosts in their second game of the season. The Mules were fresh off a thrilling overtime win the night before and used that to propel themselves to a 73-66 win. The win saw the Mules go to 2-0 on the season, while the host Spartans dropped to 1-2.

The Mules came out firing in the first half and quickly ran out to a 42-28 halftime lead. This commanding halftime lead was courtesy of the Mules shooting over 50% from 3-pt range. The Mules received most of this contribution from senior Noah Tyson, who led all Mules with 11 points in the first half. Tyson was complemented with 8 points from Max Poulton and 7 from Jonah Obi. They also benefited from tough defense, turning 8 first-half turnovers by the Spartans into 15 points.

The second half was not as pretty as the Mules struggled to hit their shots which let the Spartans edge their way back into the game as they outscored the Mules 38-31. However, timely buckets and good defense allowed the Mules to keep their lead and hold out for a 7-point win. The Mule's second-half scoring was led by 11 points from Obi and 7 from Tyson.
