Bowdoin College Women's Basketball Wins Home Debut at Coastal Classic Opener

The Bowdoin College women's basketball team earned a 62-51 win over Framingham State on the opening night of the Coastal Classic Friday night at Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears improve to 3-0 on the season while the Rams fall to 2-1 this year. 


Game Highlights

  • Bowdoin took the lead with a high-scoring first quarter and never trailed after the opening moments.
  • Framingham State owned a 5-2 advantage following a three-pointer from Krystalle Fernandez less than a minute into the game.
  • Bowdoin replied with a 13-0 run, sparked by three-pointers from Tori Beck, Jai Duval and Maria Belardi gave the Polar Bears a 15-5 lead.
  • The Polar Bears owned a 23-14 edge after one quarter and then held the Rams to 11% shooting in the second quarter, pushing their lead to 34-20 at the break.
  • Bowdoin pushed their lead to as many as 23 points in the second half before a late Framingham run closed the final margin to 11 points.

  • Ten different Polar Bears scored in the victory for Bowdoin, led by ten apiece from Sydney Jones and Callie Godfrey.
  • Ali Meade pitched in nine points for the Polar Bears, who finished at 35% shooting for the game.
  • Bowdoin held Framingham to just 32% from the field and forced 18 turnovers which they converted into 21 points.
  • The Polar Bears also held a 47-35 edge on the glass and cashed in 17 second chance points.
  • Flannery O'Connor scored 22 points for the Rams to lead all players.
