Bates College connected on 57 percent of its field goal attempts prior to halftime and built a 31-point cushion on the way to an 87-57 men's basketball result over the University of New England at Alumni Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 27).
Steph Baxter and Jahmir Primer supplied 13 and 10 points, respectively, during the opening period to power the Bobcats (2-2) to a 48-17 advantage. Contrary to the 20-of-35 shooting accuracy of the hosts in the frame, the Nor'easters (2-5) hit 22 percent of their looks at the basket.
Baxter ended with a game-high 15 points. Bates had two others join Primer in double figures, with 11 from Brady Coyne and 10 by Devin Harris.
UNE received 12 points out of Zach Boulay off the bench, and Jimmy Hulland totaled nine. Any Moynihan tossed in eight points.
