University of New England #7 Colby bests UNE

No.7 Colby College defeated the University of New England, 9-1, in non-conference women's ice hockey action on Tuesday evening.
 
Stephanie Lane tallied four points with a hat trick and an assist and got the night started with goals to put the Mules (6-0-0) in front 2-0 with 8:47 to play in the first period. McKinley Karpa added another score as Colby led 3-0 after one.
 
The hosts scored five in the second period, starting with a marker by Tate Senden 3:12 into play. Meg Rittenhouse on the power play, back-to-back goals from Jillian Mazzocca, and Lane, with the help of Rittenhouse increased the margin from there.
 
Megan Martodam found the back of the net for the final Colby goal 1:34 into the third period. Anna O'Neill scored for the Nor'easters with just over a minute remaining, with the assistance of Keely Kasputis and Kelly McCarthy.

Paige Bolyard stopped the only shot she faced for the Mules, and Grace Caligiuri had five saves over the final 32:04 of action in goal.

For UNE, which returns to the ice at Wesleyan University on Saturday, Delanie Corcoran made 14 saves in just over a period of action and Kaleigh Laurendeau had 31 stops the rest of the way.
