The Colby Women's Basketball team matched up against a tough Middlebury squad Saturday afternoon leading to a close and entertaining finish and a 63-59 win for the Mules. This puts Colby back at an even 2-2 in the conference and 6-8 overall.
With the Panthers on a hot streak coming off three straight NESCAC wins including against #25 Bowdoin and #15 Amherst, the Mules knew they had to come out strong in all aspects. Colby did just that opening the game with a 17-3 point lead and a halftime score of 34 to 19. Middlebury kept up the fight narrowing the lead to just a single point late in the fourth but the Mules held their ground and pulled out the four point victory.
Caroline Smith totaled 21 points with 11 of them coming in the first quarter followed by Lydia Mordarski with 16 points and six boards and Carter McGloon netting 10. Mackenzie Younker grabbed six rebounds as well.
