The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team played great basketball in the 2nd quarter, turning what was once a 15-point lead, down to four and trailed by seven going into halftime. But the Beavers were held to just six points in the 3rd quarter, shooting 1-14 from the field and got outscored 17-6 in the quarter. Maine Maritime closed out the 4th quarter, taking down the Beavers 67-48.

The first quarter opened up very quickly in favor of the Mariners as they began the game on a 12-0 run. An Emily Small (Cumberland, Maine) three-pointer got the Beavers on the board and stopped some of the Mariners momentum. Later in the quarter with the shot clock winding down, senior forward Rosalie White (Lisbon Falls, Maine) drilled the first three-pointer of her career. The Mariners closed the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 21-8 lead.

The teams traded buckets for the opening four minutes of the quarter as the Mariners held onto a 27-15 lead. The Beavers then went on an 8-0 run over the next three minutes fueled by three's from Mikayla Rioux (Gardiner, Maine) and Grace Dwyer (Manchester, Maine). The Mariners responded and took a seven-point lead into the half.

Maine Maritime came out of the break with a sense of urgency, going on a 15-3 run over the opening 5:45 to take a 19-point lead. A three-pointer from Jacqui Hamilton (Gorham, Maine) put a stop to the Mariners scoring run.

In the fourth quarter the Mariners extended their lead to as much as 25 in the first five minutes. A pair of free throws from Hamilton, a free throw from Victoria Garand (Portland, Maine), and another three from Rioux cut the lead back to 19. Later in the quarter Dwyer drilled a pair of threes on back-to-back possessions cutting the deficit to 17, but that is as close as the Beavers got.

The Beavers got scoring contributions from several players. Hamilton scored a team-high 10 points, Dwyer added nine, White scored eight, Rioux finished with six, and Maddy White (Waldoboro, Maine) and Garand each chipped in with five.

The Mariners had three scorers in double figures. Maria Barela scored a game-high 13. Lauren Plissey added 12 while Jacquelin Castro finished with 10 points.

The Beavers drop to 2-20 on the season with a 1-12 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. The Mariners improved to 18-5 on the year and 12-0 in NAC play.
